Former appeals judge Bill O'Neill of South Russell won his bid for the Democratic Party's nomination to take on Bainbridge Township GOP Rep. Steve LaTourette this November. O'Neill lost to LaTourette after winning the party's nomination two years ago, but says he learned valuable lessons from his defeat that will make him a better candidate this year.
"What we are looking at in 2010 is a wave of incumbent frustration that is sweeping across the nation, and Steve LaTourette will not be able to escape that," O'Neill said as he watched the results roll in. "There is a deep-seated anger in America, and I didn't have that in 2008."

“Now the real work begins,” O’Neill said May 4.
O’Neill ran against LaTourette unsuccessfully in 2008, but the former Court of Appeals Judge and pediatric emergency room nurse said he thinks this year will be different.
“There is a demand for a change in District 14,” he said. “There is an incumbent frustration after the economic collapse of Northeast Ohio.”
